About the Director
Ally Houlli is an emerging female writer and director, making her mark with her debut project, Violet In Violence. Her clear vision and meticulous attention to detail gives Ally a precise, frame-by-frame plan. Her strong ability to storyboard and articulate her vision has attracted significant support, including a sponsorship from Atlas Lenses, unlimited lighting supplies from MBS Pinewood, and support from MightySky tracking vehicles.
Ally’s dedication to her craft is matched by her resourcefulness. She has successfully secured notable musicians like PSYCHO for her project and created an immersive world that showcases her visually driven style. Her love for genre films of the 80s, utilising moody neon-style imagery, heavily influences her aesthetic.
Despite being a newcomer, Ally has demonstrated remarkable leadership and organizational skills. She has handled 14-hour winter night shoots, closed off roads for bike chases, and managed large crews, all while maintaining a clear and compelling vision. Her ability to secure a casting account from Spotlight based on the project's strength further attests to her capability and determination.
With a First-Class BSc in Psychology, Ally combines an artistic and scientific mind, understanding actors’ mindsets to enhance their performances. Her own experience in acting and screen acting courses further deepens her connection with actors, allowing her to direct with empathy and insight.
